Ingredients to make tahini and yogurt sauce
It is very simple to make this yogurt tahini sauce and it takes less than 5 minutes. Here’s what you need:
- Tahini –Tahini or Tahina is a paste made from ground sesame seeds. Tahini is often blended into classic dips such as hummus, baba ghanoush and also drizzled over falafels and roasted vegetables. It is also used in a variety of desserts such as soft serve, cookies, cakes, energy balls, stuffed dates, etc. It is commonly used in Middle Eastern, Greek, North African, Iranian, Turkish, and West Asian cuisine and can be found in most grocery stores, usually in the international aisle.
- Plain yogurt or plain greek yogurt– It is important to use full-fat plain or Greek-style yogurt to achieve the best creamy consistency. I do not advise using low-fat yogurt as it can make this sauce watery.
- Garlic – Garlic adds a great depth of flavour to this sauce. I used fresh minced garlic but you can also use garlic powder.
- Fresh lemon juice – As a refreshing element, you need fresh lime juice or lemon juice in this sauce.
- Salt – To add flavour.
- Ground cumin – Adds a rich and hearty flavour to this sauce.
- Red pepper flakes (optional) – Sprinkle some red pepper flakes to make the sauce hot and spicy.
- Extra virgin olive oil (optional) – Drizzle good quality extra virgin olive oil to turn it into a luscious sauce.
- Coriander (optional) – Add chopped coriander for some freshness.
